By the end of 2025, the three-kilometer section of the Sofia metro from Hadzhi DImitar to Levski G, announced the Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, after inspecting the extension of the third metro line under Vladimir Vazov Blvd., together with the Chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council (SOS) Georgi Georgiev and the director of "Metropolitan" Stoyan Bratoev.
"The metro changes the environment in which we live, it changes the neighborhoods. After the construction of the continuation of the third line of the metro, it is expected that 50% of Sofia's urban transport will be carried out by metro," said Fandakova.
About 34% of the extension has been completed so far by the extension project, which has a duration of 3.5 years. The work is going according to schedule, and the platform section of the future "Trakia" metro station is currently being built. "The external structures, load-bearing walls, roof area have been built, the internal structures are yet to be built," said Bratoev. According to him, this is one of the most difficult areas for construction because there is a lot of underground water.
Eight new trains have been ordered to handle the increased passenger flow on the line following the launch of the extension. About 43,000 people are expected to use the new stations.
